Man punished for spreading online rumor claiming hospital resurrected Emperor Qin Shi Huang
A netizen in Liaocheng, East China's Shandong Province, posted a fabricated video online claiming that the local hospital had successfully revived Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221BC-206BC), which quickly went viral with 14,000 shares. Authorities have taken legal action against the individual responsible.
The individual was identified as a 25-year-old man surnamed Nie, from Yanggu county in Shandong Province, as reported by The Paper.
Nie posted a misleading video online, featuring a doctored screenshot of Weibo's trending topics, according to The Paper. The manipulated image falsely claimed that "The Liaocheng People's Hospital successfully resurrected Emperor Qin Shi Huang."
Following its release, the video garnered 230,000 views and was shared 14,000 times, triggering widespread debate and drawing public concern, the report said.
Nie has been placed under administrative punishment by the Yanggu police according to law.
